SportsEngine Saves Admin 40 Hours of Work Every Season

Life as a Sorrento Minor Ball volunteer was becoming far too time-consuming and frustrating. With many volunteers ready to walk away from the program, the club made drastic changes to their processes with SportsEngine, helping to simplify tasks and reduce workloads.

Sorrento, British Columbia is a small community Northeast of Vancouver that’s bursting with local pride. In an effort to provide sports opportunities locally for young athletes, Sorrento Minor Ball hosts up to 8 baseball teams at a time for up to 80 kids.

What she was up against

Sorrento Minor Ball is a very small organization with limited resources and a small workforce. Executing daily and seasonal tasks were taking a toll on club volunteers, who were ready to walk away from the organization unless the club invested in technology and automation.

What the impact was

“Before SportsEngine, there wasn’t enough time to go around for everyone at Sorrento Minor Ball to do everything we needed to do,” says Romyn. “We didn’t even have a website to post schedules or share information, and we were still collecting registrations by hand on paper and accepting cash and checks.”

“I was ready to step away because of how labor intensive my job was but decided to stay when we signed up with SportsEngine,” says Romyn.

“Families can go in the app and find the latest schedule and even chat with other team parents,” says Romyn. “It just makes communicating last minute changes or other details so much easier.”
